Is carpet grooming a necessity?

Is carpet grooming a necessity?

Here, we’ll explain all the advantages of carpet grooming, not to be confused with vacuuming.

Carpeting makes for great flooring, but it’s like anything else: the better you take care of it, the longer it will last.

Carpet
grooming can be a useful, efficient addition to regular vacuuming. It doesn't require much time but will enhance your rug's appearance, performance, and lifespan.

Releasing trapped dirt, resetting the nap

Think about what your yard looks like after raking. That's exactly what your rug looks like after grooming.

A carpet rake or brush creates a back-and-forth motion like raking leaves. These tools are available in a carpet store or home improvement outlet.

Many do this before deep cleaning or vacuuming to aid those hard-to-reach places. For example, my desk has an angled corner that makes it impossible to reach with a vacuum.

I just brush it out so the vacuum can grab the particles.

Deep cleaning: an important part of grooming your rugs

Vacuuming is great, and we advise you to do it several times a week. Carpet grooming with a rake or brush releases trapped dirt–but that's only surface dirt.

Deep cleaning, however, is what scrubs out trapped pollutants and particles. To learn more, visit our carpet store in Sandy Springs, GA.

Deep cleaning also improves indoor air quality by removing any substances trapped in the fibers. It should be done at least every 12 to 18 months.
